Local Missions
Meeting Human Needs
Funds
The church budget designates funds that help support various agencies in our community. Included are:
- Family Promise
- Gainesville Community Ministry (GCM)
- St. Francis/Arbor House
- Habitat for Humanity
- Helping Hands Clinic
- and Christians Concerned for the Community
The Local Missions Committee designates the amounts and dates for disbursement. In addition the church has offerings for local missions such as Christmas Eve, Easter, and a Concert for a Cause. The congregation has been very generous with the special offerings.
Hands-On
The Local Missions Committee also provides hands-on projects for participation by the congregation.
- Every Sunday people bring non-perishable food for GCM.
- In August, school supplies are provided for the children at Rawlings Elementary.
- At Christmas time, toy gift suggestions for at-risk children can be chosen from a tree.
- Step-Up baskets are filled with cleaning and personal supplies for families moving into transitional housing after being homeless.
- There is an annual sock and warm clothing drive for the homeless.
Volunteers
Time is also a gift.
- Many volunteers help when Family Promise families stay overnight for four weeks in the year at our facilities.
- Two groups bring food and serve at St. Francis on the first and third Mondays of each month.
- Volunteers help at Helping Hands Clinic and at Rawlings Elementary.
- Others find their own opportunities to serve in the community.
Find your way to share Christ's love in the world.
LOCAL MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
GAINESVILLE COMMUNITY MINISTRY is always in need of food and financial resources. They request nonperishable foods which are distributed to those in our community in need. Items can be placed in the designated cart in Gordon Hall and you are encouraged to use buy one/get one free products at you grocery as an easy way to give.
ST. FRANCIS HOUSE MEALS are provided on the first and third Mondays of the month. This includes preparation and serving the guests at St. Francis House. Volunteers are always needed to do "hands on" serving.

WILLIAMS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROJECT is an opportunity to become involved in helping our community students. School supplies are collected in the late summer for the upcoming school year and there are opportunities to partner with Williams Elementary to tutor at the school the rest of the year.
Please call the church office at 352-378-1527 for more information on how you can become involved in these mission programs.
